ネイティブ・アメリカンを先祖に持つ、サンフランシスコ在住のアーティスト、リーバイ・パタが東京で2度目の個展を開催します。
2009年から2011年の夏までを東京で過ごした彼は、サンフランシスコへ戻り、ルーツであるノムラキ族と日本の両文化にある共通点を再確認します。自然を軸にした物の見方をする二つの文化は、彼の日本への思いを強くします。
新作のペインティングとドローイングに加え、会場をスタジオ代わりに公開制作をおこない、日々生まれる新作を展示します。また、最終日の4月12日には、夢で見た光景を再現するライブペイティングをおこないます。

リーバイ・パタ：1985年、ホリスター（カリフォルニア、アメリカ）生まれ。サンフランシスコ在住。2004年、カリフォルニア・パラダイスからサンフランシスコへ移住。2008年、City College of San Franciscoを卒業後、2009年から2011年夏までの約3年間東京で暮らす。主な展覧会に、「IT HURTS TO LET YOU GO」（Kokoro Studio、サンフランシスコ、2012年）、「鳴り響く銃声とギリシャの音楽」（フォイル・ギャラリー、東京、2011年）、グループ展「持ち込みナイト記念展」（フォイル・ギャラリー、東京、2010年）。2011年夏、雑誌『FOIL vol. 3 特集：HOPE』に参加。

Levi Pata, a San Francisco-based artist of Native American heritage, will be having his second exhibition opening in Tokyo.
Living in Tokyo from 2009 to mid-2011, he returned home to San Francisco to find familiarities between his own Nomlaki (Northern California) Native roots with Japanese culture. The two cultures being nature-based, once again lead his thoughts to Japan.
The exhibition space acting in place of his studio, paintings and drawings will be worked on by the artist in-house during exhibition hours, and displayed upon completion. The final day of the exhibition, 4/12, will feature a painting/sculpture event where the artist’s dream images will be recreated live.

Levi Pata:Born 1985, Hollister, California, USA. Lives and works in San Francisco. Moved from Paradise, California to San Francisco, California in 2004. 2008, Graduated from City College of San Francisco, moved to Tokyo, Japan. Returned home to San Francisco in 2011 summer. Major shows include “IT HURTS TO LET YOU GO,” (Kokoro Studio, San Francisco, 2012), “CONTINUOUS GUNFIRE AND GREEK MUSIC,” (FOIL GALLERY, Tokyo, 2011), “Mochikomi Night Group Exhibition” (FOIL GALLERY, Tokyo, 2010).
